Softball will have a blind draft for all ages.  Tryouts will NOT be held for the girls.  There WILL be someone at the ballfield to accept late registrations and perform uniform sizing.

Prospective Coaches: Ensure that you have completed and submitted your Coach Applications so that we have time to complete the background checks.

Bricks are Back! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Scott Staton
Friday, 29 January 2010 12:46

We are considering adding more engraved bricks to the base of the flag pole.  This is not really designed to be a fund raiser, just a nice way of leaving your mark on the ball field.  The cost will be $20, but we must get at least 25 orders for the price.  If you are interested, please e-mail your contact information, and how many bricks you would like. I'll get back to you with order forms and more information when we are ready to place an order.

The bricks will be 4x6 with up to 4 engraved lines of no more than 21 characters (18 recommended) per line.

Thanks!

Scott

Spring Registration:

The spring season is HERE!  Registration will be this coming Saturday in the Holtville Middle School Cafeteria from 9AM to 1PM.  Try-outs will be held on February 6th.

Jan 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th 2010:

$85.00 for the first child and $65.00 for each additional child in your family.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I fill out the paperwork ahead of time?

- Please!  It would be a great help if you download the registration form and bring the completed form with a copy of the player's birth certificate.

Can I Help?

- Please!  We are always looking and need volunteers in everything from coaching to concessions.  Please let us know during

registration that you are interested in assisting.

Can I coach?

- Probably.  We will be taking coaching applications during registration.  All coaches are required to complete the application prior to the season start.  This ensures ample time for law enforcement to conduct background investigations for the safety of our children.

Can I use a credit card?

- Yes. We understand the before Christmas crunch, and the desire to take advantage of the early registration discount.  We have the abaility to accept Major Credit Cards for the registration fees.

Does this include T-Ball?

- Yes, this includes ages 4 thru 12 in both Boys and Girls.

Why are we registering at the Middle School?

- Registration will be conducted in the Holtville Middle School cafeteria for the convenience of our parents.  The HDYL press box, although great for normal season business, has limited seating and tables.  We appreciate the Middle School's generosity in supplying a location large enough for the anticipated turnout.

What about 13 and Up?

- Due to JV restricting the participation in multiple athletic organizations, we normally have a limited number of children registered in these age brackets until much later in the season.  If you are interested in these brackets, please e-mail us so that we may better plan for these ages.

If you have any questions, please e-mail us through the Contact Us link.

Friday, 13 November 2009 07:12

The monthly meeting for HDYL will be held this Sunday (15 Nov 09) in the Press Box at 3PM.  This will be an important meeting due to voting on the By-Laws.  Please review the current by-laws and be prepared for a group discussion and voting during the meeting.  There is also a forum discussion (http://www.holtvillesoftball.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=82&func=showcat&catid=11) available for comments and ideas before the meeting.

This will also be the last meeting prior to both early and normal registrations, so there will be opportunities for suggesting and volunteering to make the process easier.

Hope to see you there!

HDYL NSA Travel Ball Tournament a Success! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Scott Staton
Sunday, 25 October 2009 11:42

This past Saturday, HDYL hosted a NSA Travel Ball tournament for the surrounding area.  The event was mutually beneficial for both the league and the visiting teams.  Due to Holtville's cental location in Alabama, we are able to provide a much closer sporting arena for the numerous travel ball teams in Alabama.    This weekend's teams were able to make a short commute and enjoy a full day of softball without the hassle and expense of lodging.  The winning team was Sweet Heat from Prattville, and second place went to Millbrook's Kryptonite.  Our thanks goes out to all the teams for their participation in our first Travel Ball tournament in recent history.  These teams and their families helped support HDYL and also made a wonderful monetary contribution to the weekend's charity, "Breast Cancer Awareness".  Also, special thanks to Mr. David Logan for his efforts as Tournament Director.  He ensured the fields were manicured, and both the teams and officials were accomodated.  The proceeds from the event will be used in the general fund to maintain the facilities and make preparations for the upcoming spring registration.
